About SuomiSpeak

SuomiSpeak exists because of a gap you only discover by living inside it.

Our founder, Fahim, moved to Finland and did what every newcomer does: downloaded the big language apps, took the courses, learned the textbook sentences. Then he stepped outside and discovered that the Finnish on the street — puhekieli, the spoken language — was nearly a different language from the one in the apps. A bus driver's question, a colleague's joke, a form from the tax office: each one was a wall.

The bigger discovery came from other immigrants. A nurse who couldn't get licensed without passing a language exam. A driver who knew the roads but not the dispatch calls. A security guard applicant who found out the training course itself runs in Finnish. For them, Finnish wasn't a hobby — it was the gate between their qualifications and their life.

No app served these people. So we built one.

What we believe

Teach the language people actually meet. That means puhekieli dialogues alongside standard Finnish, stories graded from A1 to C1, and listening practice built from real situations — checking into a hotel, a phone call to grandma, a fast shift handover.

Respect the learner's real life. Our users are nurses on night shifts and drivers on mandatory breaks. That's why SuomiSpeak has hands-free voice practice and bite-size lessons — study that fits into the day someone actually has.

Connect everything. Lessons, stories, grammar and review feed each other, so the words you learn come back in what you read and hear. Language sticks when it's a web, not a list.

Be honest about readiness. Our practice exams and readiness scores are built to tell you the truth about whether you'd pass — before you pay an exam fee to find out.
